Jurassic Park

Jurassic Park (1993) Review

Cinematography by Dean Cundy
Vision is a perpetual concept for every filmmaker, without it there is no goal of visualizing things that coming from their head and heart. A Filmmaker who had a pure enthusiasm on the vision they have mostly done things memorable. Signature of their significant outlook to the film they wanted to create. Steven Spielberg vision comes to life before even Jurassic Park but it was fully establish when he finally got chance to develop something bigger than anyone else would think.

Celebrating the upcoming Jurassic World film directed by Colin Trevorrow, i allowed myself to pay a tribute to its meticulous predecessor and said to be a direct sequel from it. Jurassic Park was set 22 years before the most anticipated film of 2015 Jurassic World. This fantastic vision of Steven Spielberg is probably one of Childhood greatest memory. It was one of the earliest film i have seen and it essentially added an establishment into my mind that without Jurassic Park Hollywood is nothing. That is how important this particular movie to me because of its amazingly creative film-making and on by the fact of bringing the film into life. It might not scientifically accurate but it answers our childhood suggestions... To See a Dinosaur in Life.

Jurassic Park revolves around three scientist who has been selected to visit the newly open park on Isla Nublar, that includes Alan Grand (Sam Neill) and Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) a Paleontologist and Ian Malcom (Jeff Goldblum) a Mathematician. The island is populated with Prehistoric Species that has been extinct million years ago but was able to bring back to life using their prehistoric DNA. All of this came from the vision of billionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) just when he thought that the park is in the safe place they end up a vicious experience with the animals they've never encounter before.

Jurassic Park doesn't only showcases its visual power to bring dinosaurs into life but it also showcases Life itself. One of the best asset of Jurassic Park is the technique of 'Showcasing', every Spielberg films was appreciated not only by how the film looks but also its fantastic insights of film making. There is magic behind it, a magical interaction to the audience which brings right into it. Thanks for the fantastic characterization and dispositions of each characters.

The performances of the cast helps a lot to put your self together inside an amazing adventure on the film, the impression and the expression of each was a good combination setting instances in movie. Dialogue wise i must say, from the people around they feel authentic, like they really what subject is all about even in behind the camera. Just like George Lucas Star Wars  they memorable a various either on how the look or what personality this characters has, then i must say the film really have fantastic casting. Jeff Goldblum take on as Doctor Ian Malcom is one the best example of character being indelible, his humorous take even in most tense situation make him more relatable.

As i think of Jeff Goldblum's Ian Malcom is the most powerful character among the others if you look on the film with more symmetry every single characters in this movie are equally memorable, powerful and relatable. Sam Neil's Alan Grant will be for sure remember as a Paleontologist that attends a number of adventure in Jurassic Park world and faces great danger, yet i believe he is a character where i can relate the most where he really knows the situation he has been dealing with, and we seen through emotions and action to entire movie where which would possibly do if we are in the same place, which make the film so special. and his character itself become essential to others that create chemistry.

Talking about the character one of the greatest characters of the movie is the Animals around it. The Dinosaurs, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops and other amazing never before seen in flesh prehistoric animals are might be the most valuable set of characters in this movie. Spielberg's stunning control of this dream come true vision are immensely diverse. The Animatronics and the design of each creatures are so flourishing that it feel authentic in various ways, through it creates an unbelievable attachment to the audience. The Dinosaurs are so alive, it helps the movie a lot to build up a set of intensity, charm and at the time terrifying.

The world of Jurassic Park is a character itself.

As i have fond my interest to the characters of Jurassic Park the real spotlight of the movie is the scene where we see the dinosaur itself for the first time. It was beautiful, it was an experience almost tangible than meets the eye. It was still amazing how Spielberg are able to take advantage to the technological advancements in a way that i was never wasted on that time. I wasn't born yet when the film was first released but it is a proof that this kind of film never ages even the special effect that was been used on it.

All this experience was not possible without a magical touch. Although the film uses some Computer Generated Images the movie are still heavy on its practicality using Animatronics and real environment. Everything will going to have their pure performances if they actually see things on the set, it records the performances and the reaction of each characters. That's why it really helps to bring the dinosaurs not only into life but to make them so authentic that even the audience felt that they belong on the same adventure.

Back on the day Spielberg is about to direct JAWS he decided not to show The Shark on the first hour of the film, it was a success, building up the tension and audiences apprehension it become a rare technique of film making which is hard to be copy by anyone yet he does the opposite in Jurassic Park but in a very similar way, it might be sound enigmatic but let me explain. Spielberg show us the Dinosaur  from the most behave, to wild to the Wildest of the most, he use the the advantage of having different species to build apprehension in a very unique way.

Visuals is not only the reason of the film's diversity and tangibility to complete the experience but also its great sound design and a memorable film score which has been composed by John Williams himself. The music follows to the adventure and it's been a the most important thing about the movie, i couldn't imagine to see Jurassic Park without its fantastic versatile sounds and music.

Jurassic Park is never been a typical adventure, drama and even monster movie we see. The film making that Steven Spielberg done in the movie was very inspiring, its not only a big blockbuster success but also a successful  Art piece of a technological innovation.

Overall Jurassic Park is fantastic experience that brings our childhood dream come to life. Its an Ageless movie for all ages that cannot be copied by any film in the future, even in the late 20th century the movie gathers a great innovation and contributed a huge inspiration.

I give Jurassic Park a solid 9.5/10.
I can't wait to see what will Colin Treverrow is going to bring in the table to his Upcoming film Jurassic World that will be released lately this year on June 10, 2015.
