Mad and Furious

Mad Max Fury Road (2015) Review

Cinematography by John Seale
A High Intensity film can easily end up in a bad place but if this movie is aware of its intensity alone, the result might be not what as you expected. Going into this movie you have to understand that it's going to be crazy. Mad Max Fury Road directed by George Miller was undoubtedly one of the greatest action film not only in this year but might be the greatest action film of the decade. It's a movie that lives up to its Title, might be even more crazier than you thought, with an intense non-stop action without exhaustion. This movie holds everything it promises from the start to end, and i must say Its one hell of a ride.

If you follow all the George Miller's Mad Max films you're going to get this feeling that this franchise is getting more crazier and crazier, it wouldn't be called Mad Max if it wasn't about it. Auteur George Miller vision for this movie is about motions and actions, just like the previous Mad Max movies but Fury Road give us the purest this visions. I wasn't expecting anything on this movie because I'm not so attached by its franchise and by that gives an extra of surprises. The movie wasn't just good by its action but by everything in the screen, the colors, the camera movements, the transitions, to the characters, the vehicles and the settings its all perfect for its genre. There is just a lot details and things that is going on a single frame. From that  Mad Max is not just about Max anymore, Furry Road set ups an enormous world and set of Characters.

The premise is simple a Point A to Point B chase story. This strong woman named Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron)  who is on the run from the mad Immortan Joe (High Keays-Byrne) and his army of 'War Boys' after his was wives taken by Furiosa in able to save them. Through the chase the held captive Max Rockantasky (Tom Hardy)  was caught up between the actions and later decided to join with Furiosa to make their way going back to the said "Home". Its about this people how are on the run to restore  the broken humanity in a deserted post-apocalyptic world.

Mad Max Fury Road is Acting more in Motions but less on Dialogue, but it doesn't seem to be the problem of the film. It is because the movie is aware of its own narrative where it supposed to have more action than talking, simplicity is what i call it. The Straight forward plot of the movie helps to develop the action where it become the based of the character arc. The Expressions and Movements of each character shows what they are. I'm not saying that this movie doesn't have any dialogue but the talking was only been used in a more literal scenarios to set up things that is about to happen and things that already happened.

The first three Mad Max films was starred by Mel Gibson, knowing to be the best actor to ever portray Max Rockatansky but the 30 years later Tom Hardy is now taking thrown from Mel Gibson and it didn't appoint at all. Looking to Tom Hardy as Max doesn't feel off from Mel's Max, though i still even prefer Mel Gibson't portrayal of Max Rockatansky, Tom Hardy's take from the character are more surreal and physically more intense but the feel of Mel's Max are still connected. The Physical Expression of Tom Hardy's Max have more things to say than what he actually saying, showing that Max is the literal depiction of Less Talk, More Action characters.

While Mel Gibson is off to playing Max Rockatansky again, Hugh Kaeys-Byrne however returns to be another main antagonist of the Mad Max franchise. We first see Hugh as the main antagonist in 1979's Mad Max as Toecutter after 35 years he is back once to portray a villain, more crazy and bizarre than Toecutter. Even if Hugh plays different characters from the same franchise it feels like Immortan Joe evolves from Toecutter. Immortan Joe however is more Mad and more Terrifying and Intense yet his temper is more predictable, but in my personal opinion i thought it makes sense if Toecutter was actually Immortan Joe himself, from his disfigure look and making people believe that he goes back from the dead its actually interesting but i confirm that Toecutter and Immortan Joe is different people.

Though Tom Hardy's portrayal of Mad Max is great the one who really shines in film the new sets of characters like Charlize Theron's Imperator Furiosa, living by the character's name Furiosa was really furious and a depiction of a woman character like was never been seen this past few years on this big screen, she personally reminds me of Terminator 2 Sarah Connor and Alien's Ellen Ripley. Imperator Furiosa character gives the real emotional ride on this film. Nicolas Hault's Nux also crazy performance also helps to build up humanity in the film.

After 30 years George Miller came by his Mad Max franchise which has been build up almost 15 years, and must say Miller is a master of Action movies. The Road Warrior is one of the greatest action i have seen and his comeback might tap it out more. Through out the entire franchise Practicality is always the strongest factor of the action scenery specially to the car chases. Today the way George Miller visioned Fury Road is more challenging than ever, he is trying to build a plot, a world but the most importantly he must build a great action, which become one the main problem of action movies nowadays. Shaky cams and non-sense explosions, Fury Road did that but in more sensible way where it know where to put the action, George Miller know the balance of telling a story while making a visualization on it.

Visually the film is stunning, the color was vibrant and its just perfect to the tone of the film, the cinematography moves witha pure synchronization to the motions of the speed of the scene and images that makes you felt it.The Practicality of the film really helps a lot to make it feel more authentic, the actions are so clear and clean include that some vibrant music scores on the background are fantastic combinations. Fury Road was yet had the best visual i have seen this year, it was so enthusiastic. The scenery are breathtaking even if its on a Digital formal i can't just imagine how does it feel in 3D.

Overall Mad Max Fury Road is one of the greatest action blockbuster film, its a  perfect Blockbuster that i'm pretty every one would love see. Although it held immersive and high-octane action the movie maintains its minimalist approach that can appeal to any type of audiences just make sure to fasten your sit belt from it insanity.

I Give Mad Max Fury Road  a Solid 10/10,

Visually enthralling and the high pack action is perfect. Everyone shouldn't missed it and should see it in any format i guarantee it will all work.
