Jurassic Park 3 (2001) Review

The Greatest Sin of the Franchise. If there is Jurassic Park 1 and 2 then there should be Jurassic Park 3 to complete the circle. Jurassic Park 3 is the third take of the franchise, the very first Jurassic Park movie that wasn't adapted from Novels and was not directed by Steven Spielberg. The first movie is one of the greatest film of all time, the second one has strength despite its flaws to its roundabout, definitely had more sense on what's going on the tone of the franchise, but the third is just completely unnecessary and lazy, everywhere frame by frame.
There were just only a matter of time left before Jurassic World by Collin Trevvorow show up. To Complete my homage to the history of Jurassic Park Franchise, before the release of Jurassic World i must suffer a bit to see the third movie once again. Jurassic Park Franchise before Jurassic Park 3 are one of those film that we have a great expectations, even if the second film didn't work too much people still expecting a good ending for the trilogy yet it was surprise disappointment. Jurassic Park 3 has no appeal and a sense of touch on what the Franchise are really about instead it contradicts most of the promised premise of the previous two. The Pointless assets overcomes the idea of complexity and it end up for downfall of the feel of the franchise.
Jurassic Park 3 follows once again the come back of Dr.Alan Grant (Sam Neill) after being tricked by Amanda (Tea Leoni) and Paul (Willaim H. Macy) Kirby who wants to bring Alan Grant with them to Site B of the Park where their son was accidentally got lost through the vicious environment of the island believing that Alan Grand have enough knowledge to support them in island in the search of their son Erik Kirby (Trevor Morgan). The Twist is it wasn't the island where Alan Grant was came from.
What makes Jurassic Park movie great is the balance between the characters and the nature, dinosaur that are showed that the reason why the first felt so well and the second have that kind of thing on it but its weaker however in Jurassic Park 3 its nothing but a leftover. The character one of the most disappointing aspects of this movie, most of annoying, others are really boring, even the dinosaur itself lost their characters inside, even if they try to put the raptors into full blast showing their intelligence it looks dumb than clever.
There's a good stuff and thrilling moment in this movie where they face pterodactyl on their "Bird Cage", i think Sam Neil is a bit of stronghold on this movie but he wasn't that good as the first movie. and that is another problem that the lost world also have, the way of bringing back original cast to the sequels. Jurassic Park 3 way of bringing back Alan Gran to game just doesn't make sense conceivably convincing unlike the second one where Ian Malcolm is there to save his love once yet in this movie Alan Grant was tricked believing Kirby's are a rich family and there's no convincing motivation through that. Another Humongous problem about this movie is theme and the message it wants to send to audience. It's either confused or it doesn't have any.
The Overall Effects are pretty weak compare to its predecessor that is years way more old yet this movie that was release in more technological advance time doesn't have the strength of the first two movies. The improvement of animatronics was internet the dinosaurs are now water proof but they are poortly executed. There's a scene in the very moment we first see the Spinosaurus when it attack the crashed airplane, they close them up the view of the dinosaur on it animotronics glory looks so robotic, and the over reliance of this in CGI make it felt like it doesn't to the Jurassic Franchise at all.
And there is one thing i really don't like personally in Jurassic Park 3 is the way they try to killed off the infamous Tyrannosaurus Rex with Spinosaurus, and they showed off in what they "Epic" Dinosaur fight but for me its not appealing at all, i believe there's a potential on that but Spinosaurus is like "Just another Carnivorous Dinosaur" who chases the main characters just to add some Jurassic Feeling on the movie, hell the Dilophosaurus is even more worth replaceable for Raptors than Spinosaurus trying to replacing T-Rex.
Overall this movie is bad, and I'm sorry. I respect the effort because you still feel the effort that put on it but it was a lazy effort. Bad Written with Bad Execution equals a really Disappointing end of trilogy from a great franchise.
I Give Jurassic Park 3 a Solid 5/10.
I can't recommend the movie, but you are purist and love Jurassic Park Franchise you might this movie out, still fun though if you ignore the film making of this movie.
Now hopefully Jurassic World will do justice, they said it was a direct sequel to first Jurassic Park and it's pretty amazing fact and i have my hopes. Jurassic World directed by Colin Trevorrow starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Prat and BD Wong, will be release next week June 10 in Philippine Cinemas and IMAX Nationwide. I'm Excited !
