Jurassic Reverence

Jurassic World (2015) Review

Cinematography by John Schwartzman
It's been 14 Years ago since the last time we have seen a Jurassic Park movie and it wasn't so amusing, 22 Years ago Steven Spielberg change the phase of visual art in Motion Picture by bringing us the Original Jurassic Park, not only the movies stand by it's visual effects and Animatronics but it also releases a inspired yet original take on a movie that talks about the relationship between mankind and nature. Jurassic World did what it was supposed to do at so many ways, Colin Trevorrow's enthusiastic approach on this movie was highly visible that only means one thing. It's more worth to be a Jurassic Park Sequel than any other Jurassic Park Sequel that has been made.

Finally after years of anticipating the movie since the announcement we finally get to see the Fourth movie in Jurassic Franchise and it was so relieving that it wasn't disappointing at all. Jurassic World is not just a "Direct" Sequel from the very first Jurassic Park movie but it also pays an Homage to it, and even though it uses some elements from the first film it doesn't really try to stick around it, it builds some new solid Plot and that's what i like about this film is that through using inspirational elements from 1993's Jurassic Park it uses those thing to build up a new thing around the franchise. I personal Enjoyed Jurassic World it was a fantastic and worthy sequel but i say its not as great as the very first film, it's just good and its fun but the reverence is enough to get you into it, it's basically a new generation of Jurassic Park Franchise and it works so well.

Jurassic World was set 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park, Where the park finally reaches the vision of John Hammond. Now the theme park was finally fully functional having a hundreds of visitor and the success continued to really build up the place despite of its nightmarish history. It follows Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) who is in control about the investment in park on how it will grab more public attention to get more visitors and through that they ended making a Genetically Enhanced Engineered dinosaur that was called Indominus Rex, Created by a familiar face Dr. Henry Wu (BD Wong) who is also known to be responsible of bringing back the dinosaurs to life back on the first Jurassic Park. While the Indominus Rex showing off some  unorthodox personality Claire decided to hire Owen (Chirs Pratt) who is known to amazingly tame four of the most dangerous dinosaurs in the park which is the Velociraptors to examine this intelligent new engineered species which they discovered something more than expected and the next thing was History repeating itself.

One of the things on why i enjoyed this movie is the way of bringing back the strong characterization, and that is the main strength of the Jurassic Park, however is not that strong as the first film in fact it also become one of the main problem about the premise, is that most of the character doesn't really deserve to be showed of a lot of screen, their backstories just doesn't really necessary for the film, i feel like this movie will just between character of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, but what i mean strong characterization on this movie is the relationship and the connection of the characters to each other, it wasn't written the same way as the first film but has the impact of it. I like chemistry that really works specially between Chris Pratt and those Velociraptors which for me it engages an emotional drive to them.

The most surprising character here Bryce Dallas herself she was realistically strong woman on this movie, where did you see a girl running around, shooting some flying dinosaurs with the hills on ? and just love the small details about her showing that she's not just woman who screaming and run around, and that is what most unique thing about it because we rarely have a strong female character on the franchise and on the situation on the character of Bryce Dallas it really set up strong and i like the way they do it, and now Chris Pratt shows something good again, the balance between his seriousness and humor on this movie works so good i think he is most likable character so far on this movie.

Speaking of characterization, i'll take this moment to talk the main villain on this movie which is the Indominus Rex, not only that i like the design and the look of the species but also i like the character they put on this monster, on this movie it was describe that this genetically enhanced dinosaur is a highly intelligent being and the movie really did a good job executing that description about the Indominus Rex. The third Jurassic Park film tried to bring something new that can tap out the infamous Tyrannosaurus Rex and it doesn't work and what's even worst is that it goes with scientifically in accuracy about the description Spinosaurus however in Jurassic World i think one of most convenient way of making something that can stand against this  monument that the T-REX was build franchise to create a new dinosaur itself not bring something out of history. Colin Trevorrow just avoided an Incoming another Mistake, and also the thing i like about it is the treatment they give to T-REX, it whatever happen to last act of the movie, T-Rex was just set up fantastically.

Visually i am surprised despite of modernization of our technology the movie still doesn't made to tap out the realism of aesthetics from Jurassic Park. If you see Jurassic World compare to Jurassic Park its fairly different on how beautiful the first movie is than this one. I'm not saying that Jurassic World has a very bland  and bad visuals but I'm just saying that it really affects the look of the movie in a bad degree by overly relying to CGI less than Animatronics at so many ways so the authenticity wasn't there to be felt, but at least they were able to maximize characterization over visual to the dinosaur so at least we can still get some emotional pull to them. I also think that the showcasing of Dinosaur had a major contribution on blowing effects, i understand the fact that we can't get the same Wow factor because the first film was 1993 and we had 3 franchise behind it already, but i think the visual beautify of Jurassic World are build up for new generation, i think people who has been on this generation will  more appreciate Jurassic World visuals.

Overall i think Jurassic World is a good sequel at so many levels, it's not great mind blowing but it's really likable, even if this movie is just about cash grabbing it doesn't at all there's a lot things to enjoy about it, and it's fun. It also brings some humongous nostalgia from the Jurassic Park that i wasn't expect and the final act of movie are just incredible. I like that the story between humans and nature are there balancing within the new premise. Now i think the whole movie is a great representation about the line that Dr. Ian Malcolm said on 1993's Jurassic Park that is "God destroys dinosaurs. God creates Man. Man destroys God. Man creates Dinosaur.

I Give Jurassic World a solid 8.5/10.
I Recommend it you're a big fan Jurassic Park or not it's a fun movie and it was enjoyable. I think the hype is taken over with respect as this movie respect Jurassic Park to.

Jurassic World is now showing on Philippine Cinemas Nationwide and IMAX Directed by Colin Trevorrow, Starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, BD Wong, and more...
